These terms cover using this website and asking Check Before You Pay to check a company. They are not legal advice.

What the service is

We research a company or website you are thinking of paying and send you a written report by email. The report covers what we can find on company registration, regulatory status and warnings, website and domain details, the people and addresses behind the business, and reviews and complaints, along with our assessment of scam indicators and a set of Pressure Tests to put to the company yourself. The fee is a flat $60, paid once.

What a report is, and isn't

• A report reflects the information we could find and verify at the time we carried out the check.
• We cross-check public regulator registers in the US, UK, Australia and the EU, plus company records more broadly. Coverage varies by country, and the report says what we could not verify.
• A report is not a guarantee that a company is safe, and it is not a finding that a company is fraudulent. It is evidence for you to weigh.
• We don't give investment advice and we don't act as lawyers or legal representatives.
• We don't recover funds, we don't guarantee that money can be recovered, and we don't take a percentage of anything recovered.
• The decision to pay a company, or not, is always yours.

Payment

We email you payment details after your request. We accept bank transfer, Wise and PayPal, and we don't accept cryptocurrency.

Using the website

• Give accurate information when you make a request.
• Don't use the request form to send spam, abuse or anything unlawful.
• Don't copy or republish the content of this website, including its articles, without permission. Linking to it is fine.
